Darlene Ferris, M.Ed., R.Psych

Darlene is a registered psychologist and one of the most skilled clinicians I know. She was an educator first – having spent over 20 years in a classroom as a teacher and a basketball coach where she told me, she learned more than she ever taught. She decided to pursue a Master’s degree in Psychology after she became “the one” who many kids and families gravitated to when they were struggling. In an effort to effect more change in education, Darlene left the classroom and joined the senior leadership team as the clinical Director of Wellness in Wild Rose School Division, leading the way for change in how mental health in classrooms were considered. She and I first met when she brought her Family School Wellness team to a Connect training that I facilitated. I was instantly impressed with her knowledge about trauma and relationships. We consulted on some tough cases and we talked about her incredible skill as a clinician. I was honoured to be her supervisor as she registered with our provincial college of psychologists. During this time, she became my greatest teacher, and inspiration, for the development of the Carrington Connections Network. One of her greatest loves is therapy and she is has developed a specific expertise with trauma, with a particular interest in first responders and athletes. She is has specialty training in EMDR and EFT couples work. Darlene and her husband have a grown daughter and live on an acerage with their dogs. She loves the outdoors (salmon fishing is her greatest love), most every sport, and is one of the most compassionate souls you will ever meet.

Carolyn Miller, MSW, BSW, RSW

Carolyn holds a Master’s degree and is a registered social worker with a clinical specialization who comes with a phenomenal understanding of relationships. She is a Pro-EFW mentor, has worked for non-profit organizations, and served as a school counsellor, having developed a keen interest in trauma and relationships. She works with kids, families, couples and adults, often infusing her love of animal-assisted therapy (she has been known to bring a therapy dog or two into session). I first met Carolyn in a consultation meeting and I was wildly impressed by her skill. I approached her, wondering if she would like to join my practice and it took me a year to convince her. She is outgoing and has such joy for the work she does. Carolyn has her EMDR certification, and is trained in Circle of Security, the Connect Parenting, along with EFT. She and her husband live on an acreage out west with their horses and dogs. She loves to spend time in nature and with her animals, and is an amazing, dedicated therapist who I am so proud to call one of ours.

Amy Monea, MSW, RSW

Amy holds a Master’s degree and is a registered social worker. Amy joined our team a year and a half ago and is such an incredible balance to our team. She has worked in psychiatric settings and has a keen understanding of mental illness and trauma, with a particular skill in equine assisted therapy. She works with adults and families primarily, having trained in EMDR and the Connect model. Amy introduced herself to me after a talk I gave, with no intention of joining our team. As soon as I met Amy, her warmth and gentle nature made me so comfortable, I wondered if she would be interested in joining our practice. As a busy mom of two young babes, a husband, and a ranch, I was thrilled when Amy decided to join us. Amy has a love of rodeo and all things horses. Her very grounded soul is evident when you meet her and skill as a clinician impresses me every day. We would love for you to meet her too.

Alicia Carignan, R. Psych (provisional)

Alicia is a provisional registered psychologist with a Master’s degree in Counselling. She is an incredible addition to the team, and comes with a depth of experience working as a school counsellor as well in pediatric psychiatric settings and adult corrections. Alicia works with kids, adults and families. She has four wonderful kids and two dogs who she adores.
